What is the most effective way to ask an attractive co-worker for her phone number and/or ask her out for a date, bearing in mind I have to see her every day? Funny you should ask me this -- I recently noticed a smokin’ hot babe that works as a teller at my bank. (It’s challenging, however, to work my magic on her when she’s behind two inches of bulletproof glass.)

In fact, when I think about it, banks always seem to have one or two hot girls working there, and they always dress very well. (Maybe the next Mack Tactics book should include a chapter on "Advanced Bank Macking"...)

Anyway, my first piece of advice: don’t think about it as "asking her out on a date." When you "ask a woman out," and you frame it as a "date," you are losing points before you even start playing the game!

Reason #1: You are making your attraction to her obvious. You’re basically communicating to her, "I like you, and I’m hoping you will like me, too, so let me take you out and spend money on you in an attempt to show you I’m worthy of dating you."

Reason #2: If she turns you down for some reason -- even if she is honestly busy, or maybe she’s got a boyfriend -- then it’s going to make things awkward when you see her every day.

You both know that YOU ASKED HER OUT, and SHE SAID NO. And that sucks...

So, if you want to know how to ask a girl out, the solution is to use a Mack Tactic that I call "The Innocent Invite."

Invite her to COME ALONG WITH YOU to an activity that you are already "planning." The message you are sending is this: you’re a fun, cool guy with stuff going on, and here’s HER chance to come along and join you for an activity.

You were planning to do this thing ANYWAY (or, at least this is how it sounds), so if she CAN’T join you, it’s not like she is "rejecting" you.

There are many different types of "Innocent Invites" and special tactics I’ve got on how to ask a girl out, but here’s one of my favorites:

If she’s an attractive girl who works in a bank, I’m guessing that she dresses well, and has a nice sense of style. Use this to set up the invitation.

When you get an opportunity to chat with her, ask her if she has any fun plans for next weekend, and then say,

"I need to shop for a gift this weekend -- my buddy Mike’s birthday is in a few days. He’s a great guy but I really think he could use a fashion makeover -- he’s still wearing the same clothes he wore back in high school. So, I want to pick him up a really cool shirt, or a pair of jeans. Actually, I’d love to get your opinion on it -- why don’t you come with me to the mall, if you help me pick out something cool, lunch is on me. What’s better for you, Saturday or Sunday?"

(Notice, you’re presenting her with a "false choice": you’re not giving her the option to say "no," you’re asking her which day is better -- Saturday or Sunday?)

If she declines to go with you for some reason, it’s not a "rejection." You were going to the mall, anyway. You can always invite her somewhere else in the future. No worries.

NOTE: Complimenting a woman on her "sense of style" or "fashion sense" is always a winner. Attractive women put a lot of time and thought into their appearance. She will truly appreciate this thoughtful compliment, unlike when a bonehead tells her how "hot" or "beautiful" she is. (She hears that cheesy crap all the time.)

You could also invite her to come along with you to a bar or a cocktail lounge you’re "planning to check out." A night-time activity is cool, too. But inviting her to accompany you shopping, during the daytime, is a very safe strategy. And this type of date has a lot of side benefits:

- You’re walking around with her and being active, which burns off your nervous energy

- Going into various stores with her creates all kinds of cool conversational topics. Visit a store that sells CDs and DVDs, and talk about the kinds of movies/music that she’s into. What’s her favorite perfume? What’s her favorite cologne for men? Women will divulge all kinds of information about themselves when they’re shopping, and naturally, she’s going to feel comfortable and relaxed in this type of environment. Women were BORN to shop!

Bonus tip: go shopping with her in the late afternoon, around 4-5pm. The article of clothing that she helps you pick out for your buddy COULD be a gift that you give to a friend, or you’ll just keep it for yourself.

When you finish shopping, buy her a meal, and do it at a place that serves drinks. Since it’s now after 5pm, it’s cool for you to order some cocktails or a pitcher of margaritas, and now the two of you can kick back and have your "date" -- without it FEELING like a "date" to her.

She’ll just feel like she’s spending time with a fun, cool guy, and going with the flow...play it right, and this "daytime meet" could wind up lasting until morning!

Now I have a question for you, grand master... I was taking a class at night at my local university, and I met a very sexy woman who is older than I am (I am 26, and she is 35). We always talked after class, and we met a few times at the campus library to study together.

I was growing to really like her, but it was hard to understand what she wanted. Sometimes she acted very flirty towards me, and other times she acted cold and distant.

She would sometimes call me twice a day to chat, and then she would stop calling me and wouldn’t return my calls for a few days.

I asked her many times to go on a date with me. Once, she agreed to meet me for lunch, but then she called me at the last minute and cancelled.

Our class ended three weeks ago. Now she will not answer my phone calls but we communicate with text messages. She confessed to me that she is still hurting from breaking up with her ex-boyfriend John.

She says she loves me as a friend and our friendship is very important to her, but she isn’t ready for another serious relationship. When I try to get her to meet me, she always has an excuse.

Limit your availability. This is one of my biggest tips to get a girlfriend. I’m willing to bet that whenever this girl does call you, you eagerly answer the phone and chat with her for as long as she wants...

You may THINK that when you spend two hours on the phone with her, sharing your life stories and telling her about the girl who broke your heart when you were in the tenth grade, you’re building some kind of deep “connection” with her.

But what you’re actually doing is removing ANY sense of mystery about yourself, letting her know that you have nothing else going in your life... and no other women.

This is massively UN-attractive to her!

How to get a girlfriend, Tip #2:

Until you’ve slept with a woman, limit your phone chats with her to five minutes. And don’t get caught up in constant text-messaging. Give her the sense that you’re a busy man with places to be.

Use these short phone calls, or text exchanges, to lock down your plans to see her again. Save the deep conversations for when you are actually spending time with her.

How to get a girlfriend, Tip #3:

Women are moody and emotional. Get used to it, and know how to deal with it. When she start acting weird or distant, she is testing you. She wants to see how you will respond.

Do you kiss her ass and ask her “what’s wrong?” Do you get frustrated and angered by her behavior? (Either of these responses will only make her get more moody!) Or, do you behave like a firm, direct MAN?

(Tell her, “Well, I can tell you’ve got some things on your mind right now, so why don’t you take some time to sort it out and get back to me. I’ve got some things I need to handle right now.”)

How to get a girlfriend, Tip #4:

Women commonly use the excuse, “I got out of a bad relationship recently, I don’t know if I’m ready for someone new, I don’t want to get hurt again,” etc. It’s all crap, basically. The truth is, if she met a confident, attractive man RIGHT NOW who made her feel a sexual connection, she’d forget about her ex-boyfriend in about 2.3 seconds.

If she starts talking about her ex, and how she’s “not ready,” what she really means is that you’re not making her feel attraction, and so she’s testing you to see what kind of man you are.

You need to put her in a positive, fun state of mind and keep her there. When she thinks of you, she should think of fun times and feeling good about herself.

The last thing you want to do is allow her to dwell on her ex-boyfriend and be her “shoulder to cry on.” If she ever mentions him, change the subject.

And never refer to him by name because it only aggravates her emotional state. (Instead, refer to him as “that guy.” Make him seem irrelevant and insignificant.)

HER: “I guess I’m just in a bad mood today because it would have been my third anniversary with my ex, John...”

YOU: “Well it sounds like that guy didn’t appreciate you the way he should have, and it’s his loss. I’m just glad we’re getting to know each other, because I can tell there’s a lot more to you than meets the eye. So tell me more about...”

(Change the subject onto something that gets her in a positive, talkative mood).

How to get a girlfriend, Tip #5:

Never confess your attraction to her. Women interpret this as a sign of weakness. You’ve been taught by the media that woman want a soft, sensitive guy who isn’t afraid to confess his feelings.

Actually, the opposite is true. She needs to know you are a strong, emotionally secure and confident MAN. Once you’ve got a sexual relationship going with her, and she’s bonded to you, feel free to be a sweet, loving boyfriend and do all of the romantic things that drive her wild.

But until then, you’ve got to play it cool.

How to get a girlfriend, Tip #6:

Finally, be willing to “man up” and walk away if you need to. If for whatever reason she just can’t sort out her feelings, cut her loose.

Trust me, if you were involved with two or three OTHER women right now, you wouldn’t have the time or the interest to play games with some chick who can’t make up her mind.

When you have multiple options, you will ALWAYS feel confident and in control. Don’t make the mistake that most guys make, and place “all of your eggs in one basket.”

Once a woman has mentally placed you in “The Friend Zone,” it’s difficult to change her feelings towards you. Ideally, you never want to her to view you as her platonic, non-sexual “buddy” in the first place.

This is why when you do meet up with women for a date, you’ve got to take things in a sexual direction. This doesn’t mean you have to sleep with women on the first date. But you MUST establish some physical contact and make her feel that you’re a sexual possibility for her.

That’s the difference between guys who always suffer in the “Friend Zone,” and guys who GET IT DONE.

I’m in love with a stripper. Yeah, I know, I’m probably asking for trouble (and a depleted bank account). Seriously though, she’s a really cool chick. The problem is, she’s got another guy in her life that she can’t shake.

They dated for years, broke up a bunch of times, got back
together, broke up “for good” when she busted him sleeping with her best friend... and now, while I’m trying to get something going with her, I suspect she might still be seeing him on the side.

I’m a good guy. I treat women with respect. But this keeps
happening to me. The girls I dig always seem to have a thing
for creeps.

This is a question we get all the time. What is it about “jerks”
and “creeps” that hot women find so alluring? With so many nice guys out there willing to treat them like princesses, why do they get so deeply attached to “bad boys?”

What you need to understand is, women aren’t attracted to the fact that these men are self-centered or arrogant. They’re
attracted, on an deep subconscious level, to certain BEHAVIORIAL traits that bad boys exhibit.

Here are the big three:

Bad Boys are independent.

They lead their own lives and fit women into their schedule,
not the other way around. Women, by nature, want what they can’t have—and bad boys present a challenge and sense of mystery.

Bad Boys are decisive.

They’re never wishy-washy. Women love a man who isn’t afraid to lead; a leader who confronts situations is a man who is capable of fulfilling the most core female need, which is to
feel protected.

You’ll never hear a bad boy say, “So do you want to hang out sometime?” Or, “what do you feel like doing tonight?”

Bad boys are men on the move. They’ve always got plans
in motion. And women want to go along for the ride.

Next...

Bad boys don’t wear their emotions on their sleeve.

Aristotle, a mack among ancient Greek philosophers, once
said: “He who confesses first, loses.” Pouring out your
feelings to a girl might seem like a sweet romantic gesture,
but in reality it usually blows you out of the water.

When a girl hasn’t made up her mind about you, and you make it clear you’re totally into her, you seem needy and you’re no longer a challenge.

Bad boys keep women guessing: is he really into me, or is he playing games? How many other girls does he have in his life right now? This triggers the female competitive instinct and makes them want a guy that much more.

Guys who are extremely popular with women tend to essentially be nice guys with a “bad boy edge” to
their personality.

Respect women, treat them right, but understand how to trigger the same female instincts that bad boys use to drive women wild.

I asked a girl out recently and she told me she wasn’t ready
to date anyone new. She explained that her ex, Tony, was a
psycho and she had to get a restraining order on him. How
can I convince her I’m nothing like Tony?

>>> My Comments:

First off, you just mentioned the dude’s name twice in one
paragraph. Which means you’ve probably had conversations
with her about "Tony," and why she deserves better than "Tony," and so on...

Never refer to her ex by name! This is a rule. Refer to him as
“that guy” or "that dude." This dimishes his significance.
Saying his name out loud, when talking about him with her,
triggers emotions and memories.

While you never want to get into extended discussions with
women about their ex-boyfriends -- you want to keep things
focused on the present, and on you and her -- knowing the types of guys she’s dated in the past can provide valuable Intell.

This is especially true when she dated a wack dude, since you can now present yourself as the opposite of him.

There are three main categories of wack ex-boyfriends:

1 - The Stalker.

When the relationship ended, this pathetic head case couldn’t
let go. When macking a girl who had a stalker ex, you must
present yourself as the “anti stalker.” Be extra careful
about saying or doing anything that show “clinginess.”

Don’t accompany her everywhere. If you call her to chat, she
should be the one calling you next time. When she calls you
to invite you out, don’t always accept the invite. Try saying,
“I’m just going to chill tonight. You go ahead and have a
girl’s night out. Have a great time. Call me tomorrow and
let me know how it went.”

Make it a habit to give her space and let her know you’ve got other things going on in your life—unlike the stalker, whose
entire world revolved around her.

2 - The Loser.

Her ex was broke, couldn’t hold a job, or simply had no ambitions or direction in life. Become the opposite in her eyes by mentioning things, or goals in your life that you are
passionate about. Women are turned on by passionate men.
It’s a quality that losers lack.

3 - The Commitaphobe.

This guy refused to commit to her. Maybe he dumped her at the altar; maybe he was never willing to be monogamous. With this type of girl, demonstrate how important commitment is to you.

Use the word. Don’t say “I’d love to have my own business
someday.” Say, “I’m very commited to launching my own business soon.” Don’t say, “I’m close with my family.” Say, “I’m really committed to my family. They’ve always been there for me, and I’m always there for them.” A guy who values commitment is a guy she can imagine being commited to her.

Also, no matter how much of a jackass her ex-boyfriend sounds like, refrain from making disaparaging comments about him.

Remember, at one point in time she had serious feelings for him. Dissing him is basically the same as dissing her, and her
judgement. Instead, make him seem irrelevant and not even
worth discussing. “It sounds like that guy didn’t appreciate
all the great things I’m seeing in you.”

Then move the conversation onto a more pleasant topic. Keep things focused on the present and on future possibilities. “That guy” is boring, irrelevant, ancient history.

A final notes on exes: whenever the topic comes up, women
are invariably going to ask you about your romantic past
and “what happened” between you and your ex. This is a
minefield you do not want to stumble into.

No matter how it ended between you and your ex, your explanation is probably going to make you look bad. If she was a nutcase, then it makes you look like you’ve got terrible taste in women.

If she dumped you, it makes you look lame. And if you broke up with her, for whatever reason, it makes you look callous.

If you’re like most guys, women seem like a mystery at times, and you’d LOVE to know how to "crack the code" and make them feel irresistibly DRAWN towards you -- instead of having to spend a lot of time, energy, and money trying to pursue them and figure them out.

Women are actually NOT the mystery that most guys think they are. They instinctually respond to certain types of men, and I’m NOT talking about guys who look like Calvin Klein underwear models, or have a lot of cash.

I’m talking about guys who know how to TEASE and CHALLENGE women.

If you want to know how to get girls on a new level, start with these three tips:

1. Stop making your interest obvious. Women are turned on by a man who is a CHALLENGE. (When she CAN’T have something, she wants it that much more -- this is basic human psychology.)

You’ve got to start applying this principle if you’re going to learn how to get girls. The problem with most guys is that they make their interest known IMMEDIATELY. For example, they’ll learn some "opener" or pickup lines from a pickup artist book, or website, and they’ll rely on this when they approach women.

It doesn’t matter how funny or clever these pickup lines are. You’re shooting yourself in the foot, because you’re making it OBVIOUS right away that you are pursuing her, and SHE is the prize that you are trying to win. (Why ELSE would you use a pickup line, right?)

This is when she lumps you in with the previous 47 lame, unoriginal guys who tried to talk to her. The minute those guys opened their mouths, she KNEW they were hoping to get her phone number or have sex with her, and she tuned out.

Therefore, you’ve got to frame yourself as a CHALLENGE.

Never act impressed by her. Never behave as if you’re trying to measure up to HER standards. Don’t compliment her on how good she looks. Don’t offer to buy her a drink right away. Don’t talk about yourself in an attempt to show her you are WORTHY of her.

2. Know how to call a girl. The Mack Tactics book contains an "automatic" technique for how to get a girls phone number, and when you call her, you’ve got to use the correct strategy.

This phone call should not last more than five minutes. The purpose is for you to lay out a PLAN to see her again.

"So Cindy, you mentioned that you get off work at 5pm on Friday. I’m planning to visit this lounge that I hear is the coolest new spot in town. Great drinks, cool music...I know you’ll love this place. I can swing by and pick you up at 8 o’clock."

(She agrees, and then you tell her you’ve got to run and handle some things, and you’ll see her on Thursday. Don’t linger on the phone and get into a long chat...you’re a BUSY GUY with places to be, and people to see.)

3. Stop dating women in the "conventional" way. Don’t take her to the movies. (How are you supposed to build her attraction to you, while sitting next to her in the dark for two hours, and saying nothing?!) Don’t take her out to an expensive dinner. (Not on the first date, anyway.) And NEVER show up at her front door with flowers!

When you take women on an "ordinary" date, she knows you’re into her, and that you’re HOPING to get something from her.

One of my biggest tips on how to get girls is to have three or four special "date spots" where you bring women. These are cool, comfortable, "off the radar" places that you can INTRODUCE her to.

(This makes a cool impression on her; you are a hip guy who knows cool, interesting places, and you are bringing her into YOUR world. It could be a funky little coffee shop that serves an amazing dessert... a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant that has a fun vibe and the BEST margaritas in town...

Seek out these places, get to know the staff (so that they welcome you when you show up with a date), and make these your "date spots."

Hi Dean. I love your Mack Tactics program on how to get girls, and I’ve been amazed by your solutions for guys who want to achieve "bulletproof game." Now I have a question for you.

I was taking a class at night at my local university, and I met a very sexy woman who is older than I am (I am 26, and she is 35). We always talked after class, and we met a few times at the campus library to study together.

I was growing to really like her, but it was hard to understand what she wanted. Sometimes she acted very flirty towards me, and other times she acted cold and distant. She would sometimes call me twice a day to chat, and then she would stop calling me and wouldn’t return my calls for a few days.

I asked her many times to go on a date with me. Once, she agreed to meet me for lunch, but then she called me at the last minute and cancelled.

She says she loves me as a friend and our friendship is very important to her, but she isn’t ready for another serious relationship.

You, my friend, have wound up in the Friend Zone. This is a common situation with men who are trying to follow the “normal” rules with women. (In other words, being nice, sweet, respectful, and following her lead... )

Because let’s be honest. Is any guy ever satisfied having a female “friend” to talk to, when what he really wants from her is sex? No, of course not.

And it’s only a matter of time before she meets some other guy who DOES make her feel sexually attracted, and once they start hooking up she’ll no longer have any need to hang out with you.

And do you really need female friends to talk to and share your problems with? No. You’ve got your buddies to fill that role in your life, and they can relate to you much better than a chick that makes you feel depressed and sexually frustrated.

So let me give you my Top 6 tips for busting out of the Friend Zone and getting women sexually interested in you…

1. Limit your availability. I’m willing to bet that whenever this girl does call you, you eagerly answer the phone and chat with her for as long as she wants.

You THINK that when you spend two hours on the phone with her, sharing your life stories and telling her about the girl who broke your heart when you were in the tenth grade, you’re building some kind of deep “connection” with her.

But what you’re actually doing is removing ANY sense of mystery about yourself, and letting her know that you have nothing else going in your life... and no other women. This is massively UN-attractive to her.

(I know that when you’re a man who is struggling with his dating life, and haven’t hooked up with a chick in a while, this takes a LOT of discipline. Your instinct is to make yourself totally available to her and try to spend as much time as
possible with her. Well, go ahead and keep doing it this way, if you want to keep wondering why women lose interest in you... )

2. Until you’ve slept with a woman, limit your phone chats with her to five minutes. And don’t get caught up in constant text-messaging. Give her the sense that you’re a busy man with places to be.

Use these short phone calls, or text exchanges, to lock down your plans to see her again. Save the deep conversations for when you are actually spending time with her.

3. Women are moody and emotional. Get used to it, and know how to deal with it. When she starts acting weird or distant, she is testing you. She wants to see how
you will respond. Do you kiss her ass and ask her “what’s wrong?” Do you get frustrated and angered by her behavior? (Either of these responses will only make her get more moody!)

Or, do you behave like a firm, direct MAN? (Tell her, “Well, I can tell you’ve got some things on your mind right now, so why don’t you take some time to sort it out and get back to me. I’ve got some things I need to handle right now.”)

4. Her ex-boyfriend is irrelevant. Women commonly use the excuse, “I got out of a bad relationship recently, I don’t know if I’m ready for someone new, I don’t want to get hurt again,” etc. It’s all crap, basically. The truth is, if she met a confident, attractive man RIGHT NOW who made her feel a sexual connection, she’d forget about her ex-boyfriend in about 2.3 seconds.

TRUST ME on this ;)

When she talks about her ex, and how she’s “not ready,” what she really means is that you’re not making her feel attraction, and so she’s testing you to see what kind of man you are.

You need to put her in a positive, fun state of mind and keep her there. When she thinks of you, she should think of fun times and feeling good about herself.

The last thing you want to do is allow her to dwell on her ex-boyfriend and be her “shoulder to cry on.” If she ever mentions him, change the subject.

And never refer to him by name because it only aggravates her emotional state. (Instead, refer to him as “that guy.” Make him seem irrelevant and insignificant.)

HER: “I guess I’m just in a bad mood today because it would have been my third anniversary with my ex, John…”

(Change the subject onto something that gets her in a positive, talkative mood).

5. Never confess your attraction to her. Women interpret this as a sign of weakness. You’ve been taught by the media that woman want a soft, sensitive guy who isn’t afraid to confess his feelings. Actually, the opposite is true. She needs to know you are a strong, emotionally secure and confident MAN.

Once you’ve got a sexual relationship going with her, and she’s bonded to you, feel free to be a sweet, loving boyfriend and do all of the romantic things that drive her wild. But until then, you’ve got to play it cool.

6. Finally, be willing to “man up” and walk away. If for whatever reason she just can’t sort out her feelings, cut her loose. Trust me, if you were involved with two or three OTHER women right now, you wouldn’t have the time or the
interest to play games with some chick who can’t make up her mind.

When you have multiple options, you will ALWAYS feel confident and in control.

Don’t make the mistake that most guys make, and place “all of your eggs in one basket.”

Once a woman has mentally placed you in “The Friend Zone,” it’s difficult to change her feelings towards you and make her feel attraction. Ideally, you never want to her to view you as her platonic, non-sexual “buddy” in the first place. This is why when you do meet up with women for a date, you’ve got to take things in a sexual direction.

This doesn’t mean you have to sleep with women on the first date. But you MUST establish some physical contact and make her feel that you’re a sexual possibility for her.

That’s the difference between guys who always suffer in the “Friend Zone,” and guys who GET IT DONE with girls.

Hey, Dean Cortez with some fresh tips on how to get girls using powerful techniques of influence and persuasion.

The other night my buddy Hunter and I hit a nightclub in Los Angeles. The place was jam-packed with hot girls...lots of wanna-be models, actresses, and even some famous porn chicks who think they're "all that."

These are girls who shoot down guys for FUN. And they NEVER pay for their own drinks, because there is always an endless supply of loser guys who will buy them drinks just to get a moment of their time.

Hunter and I are experts on the topic of how to get girls, and we know these types of hotties require a slightly different set of tactics...

You've got to TEASE these girls, BUST ON THEM a little bit, and let them know you're NOT an average, ordinary guy who is in awe of their looks and eager to impress them.

So, my buddy Jay started chatting with a hot little 22-year-old blonde with the best pair of breasts money can buy.

She said something funny, and Jay laughed, and as he took a sip of his beer, he told her...

"You're so cute. It's too bad you're not my type."

Then, Jay changed the subject and started talking about a ski trip he went on recently...

Right then, the look on that girl's face was PRICELESS.

You could tell that Jay's comment ("too bad you're not my type") had knocked her for a loop!

She's thinking, "WHAT did he just say? I'm not his type?? But I'm supposed to be EVERY guy's type!!"

So one the one hand, she was a little bit pissed off and confused...

But on the other hand, you could see that she was even MORE curious about Jay after he said that!

She tossed her hair back and started using really "flirty" body language...because she wanted him to show that he WAS into her.

But Jay didn't give her the confirmation she wanted. He did the opposite! At one point, he actually handed her his beer and said "hold this for a sec, I gotta make a phone call," and went outside for a few minutes.

When he came back, she was standing there looking like a lost puppy, holding his beer, waiting for him...and you KNOW she was thinking, "What's the deal with this guy? He is SO freakin' confident...is he rich? Does he have a fourteen-inch shlong? How come he doesn't
kiss my butt and buy me drinks, like every other guy??"

She felt insecure, confused, and VERY CURIOUS to know more about him :)

So then Jay switched it up and used some Mack Tactics to "bond" with her. He said to her,

"Y'know, Tina, I can tell that because you look a certain way, guys make assumptions about you. I bet most guys never take the time to really know you, and understand what you're about. I get the sense that you're actually a lot deeper and more sensitive than people realize..."

So, he pays her this little compliment, which also makes him seem like a thoughtful, perceptive guy. This statement gets her to open up and share about her interests, and her goals, and he engages her on a deeper level that most guys would NEVER try to go to...

They'd just be standing there, trying not to stare at her perfect rack, struggling to make "small talk"...

Anyway, Jay brought her home that night, and it was a textbook example of Mack Tactics in action.

I’ve talked to hundreds of women about the qualities they find most attractive in men, and a sense of humor is usually the first quality they mention.

But are women being phony when they say this? Are they giving this answer because they don’t want to appear shallow -- when what they REALLY go for is a muscular hunk with a hot car and a fat bank account?

If the ability to make a woman laugh was such a huge turn-on, then wouldn’t stand-up comedians get laid more than rock stars? I mean, we all know guys with a “class clown” personality who are constantly saying hilarious things, and they’re usually the LAST guys to hook up.

Women find them amusing, but don’t feel any SEXUAL ATTRACTION.

Here’s the truth about dating single women. When women say they love a sense of humor, what they really mean is they love the DEEPER ATTITUDE that a sense of humor points to. Guys who are funny, playful and nonchalant around women -- and even better, can bust on women and tease them a little -- are obviously confident and in control of their reality.

These guys are always dating single women because they don’t look to women for approval. They don’t radiate anxiety. They never seem like they NEED to get a woman’s phone number or hook up with her. This goes back to two principles that I preach in The Alpha Rules, the explosive, controversial book I wrote with Carlos Xuma:

1.Women love men who present a challenge.

2.Women are fascinated by men who are “in demand” and obviously have other romantic/sexual options. Women, by nature, are jealous and competitive when it comes to men. Give her the sense that she’ll have to step up and WIN you away from other women, and the game is on! A playful, cocky guy radiates this attitude. Meeting and dating single women becomes easy.

Having this attitude means you’ve got to stop second-guessing yourself. You’ve got to squash that little voice in your head that tells you why you SHOULDN’T approach a girl, or try to escalate to a romantic level with her.

The average guy takes himself WAY too seriously when it comes to women, and is constantly asking himself unnecessary questions:

“Does this shirt look good on me?”
“Is she going to get annoyed if I walk up and talk to her?”
“What if she has a boyfriend?”
“Where should I take her on a date?”
“What if we run out of things to talk about?”
“If I ask for her phone number, will she think I’m some stalker?”
“Is it too soon to try to touch her?”

When you allow your brain to fire off these questions, it destroys your ability to be fun, spontaneous and playful.This is when dating single women feels like a frustrating (and even depressing!) ordeal.

You’re allowing yourself to be preoccupied by unimportant details, when you SHOULD be asking yourself questions that boost your confidence and remind you to stay sharp and on top of your game:

“This girl is cute, but is she interesting enough for me to date?"
“Is she smart and funny enough to hold a conversation with me?”
“What can I teach this girl, that she’d never learn from the average guy?”
“What should I mention about myself, to really make this girl curious about me?”
“How far am I going to take this tonight, and what’s my plan?”

Now, in terms of the verbal questions that you ask women, you’ve also got to learn how to “spin” them to make them effective. When you’re getting to know a girl, and you make a request that she can simply say “no” to, chances are she will:

Him: Can I buy you a drink?
Her: No.
Him: Can I have your number?
Her: No.
Him: Can I kiss you?
Her: No.
Him: Want to go back to my place?
Her: Hell no.
Him: Can I see you again?
Her: I’m pretty busy...for the next six months...

One great technique is to rephrase your questions so that you give women “false choices.” This means you are not giving her the chance to say “no.” You are assuming that she’s going to go with your flow. Lead the interaction, and if she’s at all interested in you, or at least curious, she’ll go along with it and never shut you down with a “no.”

WACK: Can I buy you a drink?

ALPHA: So tell me something interesting about yourself, that’s going to make me want to have a drink with you.

WACK: Do you mind if I get your phone number?

ALPHA: We should exchange numbers. (as you take out your phone) So what’s a good time to call you tomorrow?

WACK: Want to go back to my place?

ALPHA: Let’s go to my place and I’ll show you that _______ I told you about. (Fill in the blank with something you mentioned earlier, that you want to show her.) I’ve got a bottle of red wine you're going to love, it's a new label you have to try.

WACK: Would you like to dance?

ALPHA: I’m going to need to take you onto the dance floor. I don’t want you standing here looking like a wallflower.

WACK: Would you like to hang out sometime?

ALPHA: My friends told me about this new lounge that has great music on Friday and Saturday nights. Which night is better for you?

Those are just a few examples. Remember: boring, ordinary guys are constantly asking permission from women. This results in a lot of “No’s,” and a lot of disappointment, frustration, and masturbation! Flip the script and start “spinning” your questions to make them more powerful, interesting and effective. This is one of the keys to dating single women on a new level -- and making it feel fun and easy, the way it SHOULD be!

One of the questions I am most frequently asked by guys is, "How can I get more confident around women?"

I believe that building self confidence is done through steady and incremental success.

Learn a solid technique, apply it, and the "small victories" you will achieve will naturally boost your confidence level.

For example, if you learn my techniques for approaching women, and you start making successful approaches, then you're naturally going to feel more confident about doing it.

Learn my strategy for getting a girl's phone number, and you'll start racking up phone numbers with no problem. Very soon, you'll feel quite confident in this area. Building self confidence is a natural byproduct.

But if you truly want to possess bulletproof confidence in EVERY area, first I want to ask you one very important question:

When it comes to women, do you believe in ABUNDANCE, or do you believe in SCARCITY?

This is the key factor that separates "bulletproof players" from average, frustrated chumps who make excuses, instead of getting results.

Guys who have a scarcity mentality believe that single, attractive women are in very short supply.

Therefore, these guys feel they need to chase women, try to impress them, and spend money. Once they're into a girl, they'll do anything it takes to date them!

And if the girl rejects this guy, he feels frustrated and depressed, because he worries that he won't get another chance anytime soon. He tells himself that he "blew it"...

Then, there are guys like Carlos Xuma and I, who believe in ABUNDANCE.

We know that the universe has provided us with an endless supply of fun, sexy, single women.

We know that wherever we may currently live, and the places where we hang out, contain any number of great options for having fun and meeting girls.

Personally, I love to travel. I know that when I leave my city and check out a new hot spot, my options go from good to virtually LIMITLESS!

The guy with the "abundance attitude" guy knows there are literally an ENDLESS number of women who want to be with him!

And therefore, there is no reason to worry, or stress out, about finding a girlfriend RIGHT NOW, or chasing the "one girl" that you've been pining for.

The world is FILLED with opportunities.

It is essential that you develop this abundance mentality ... and then, you need to know how to talk to girls in the most effective way.

The irony of having the abundance mentality is it means YOU become SCARCE to women.

Most women have an incredibly scarce mentality when it comes to men. They say, "all the good men are already married, or gay."

Well, it's time for you to blow their minds with the techniques you'll find in our book, The Alpha Rules ;)

But first, you've got to make women feel that YOU are a scarce resource.

You can be into a girl...but don't let her know it. You've got to play "hard to get." This is essential for building self confidence.

In other words, she should feel lucky to meet a guy like you -- a guy who is charming, funny, interesting, and cool -- but who doesn't play the dating game by the traditional "rules."

Being a scarce resource to women means:

• You don’t give a woman all of your time and attention.

• You don’t lavish gifts on her, or spend more than $30 on a date. Meeting up with her for a drink, or coffee, is a lot more effective than taking her out to a restaurant.)

• You’re not available to talk to her on the phone or chat on the internet for an hour every day, or see her any night of the week that she’s free to see you.

Once you start getting to know women and getting them attracted to you, and then limiting your availability, so they don’t always have access to you, you'll be amazed by how much harder these girls are going compete for your attention and your affection.

This is what the girls want. A guy who is a CHALLENGE.

There’s a phrase that salesmen and marketers use, which is called "perceived value." This means is if you create the perception that your product is scarce and in short supply -- whether it's true or not -- people are going to want it that much more.

I'll give you an example. A while back, I was interested in attending a seminar on how to make money in real estate. I live in Las Vegas, and there are lots of seminars like this coming to town. I went online and I find out about two.

The website for seminar #1 said the ticket cost was $999, and there were only two seats left -- so reserve now!

The website for seminar #2 was only charging $79, and mentioned nothing about availability. It just asked you to sign up and purchase your seat.

Obviously, I was far more curious about the $999 seminar. There were only two seats left (at least, that's what they were saying) -- so in my primal animal brain, that seminar immediately had much greater value.

I figured that spending more money on an elite seminar would get me better results than spending a lot less money on a seminar that didn't seem to be in demand.

You see examples of this sales tactic all the time. And it works, because scarcity creates perceived value.

With women, you want to be the "scarce and valuable guy." The busier you appear to be, and the richer your social life seems, the more value women will place on you. And the easier building self confidence becomes.

If she calls you on the phone to chat, and you tell her you can only talk for a minute because you're heading out the door to a birthday party for your friend Jennifer, she'll know that you've got other options. You know other women. You don't NEED to put all of your eggs in one basket.

And guess what. The girl on the phone? Her jealous, competitive instincts are now kicking in. You are a guy she wants to win because she sees you as a scarce, valuable resource. She's not the only girl trying to spend time with you!

Maybe the ultimate example of what I’m talking about is the diamond industry. It's a multi-billion industry built entirely on an illusion of perceived value.

How "valuable" is a diamond, really? They're tiny crystals of carbon, that's all! Sure, they're shiny and pretty, but no one ever needed a diamond until the people controlling the industry teamed up with the world's top advertising agency... and managed to convince us all that diamonds are the ultimate symbol of eternal romance.

("Diamonds are forever..." "Diamonds are a girl's best friend..." etc.)

If you loved a woman and wanted to marry her, now you had to shell out thousands of dollars for a diamond ring. She expected nothing less!

At the same time, the mining and production of diamonds is tightly regulated and controlled... so that demand will always far exceed supply.

The diamond cartels that control the industry in South Africa continue to pay millions of dollars to advertising agencies which force-feed women the notion that diamonds are incredibly rare, special, and romantic.

(Of course, once diamonds became this ultimate "status symbol," all the rappers and pro athletes jumped on the bandwagon as well... which also encourages all the wanna-be's to spend absurd amounts of money on diamond chains and earrings, since it means they're "somebody.")

Think about it. Perceived value. Do women view you as a diamond, or are you just one of a million ordinary stones they'd find on any beach?

I want you to STOP being the average guy who takes the "scarcity" attitude. It's time for you to start building self confidence.

Cut through the small talk and take it to a deeper level. Don't get stuck talking about jobs. Mention the things you are most passionate about, and get her to share hers.

(Get her to reveal a goal or a dream of hers, and be encouraging and supportive, and you're really in the door ... )

If you're passionate about your work, that's great. But don't dwell on the present. Talk about future possibilities.

And remember, if you're not yet where you want to be, in terms of money and success, you can generate strong feelings from women if you show AMBITION and PASSION.

You see, an ambitious, passionate guy makes her feel, "this guy's life is on an exciting, positive track. It would be cool to be a part of it."

Also, maintain a sense of mystery. During the initial conversation, it's best to leave questions about yourself unanswered. Make her want to learn more about her.

Here are some examples...

Which sounds better?

"I work as a waiter at a restaurant."

Or...

"I work in the restaurant industry. Right now I'm learning all I can about the business, because a few years from now I plan on opening my own place. What about you...I get the sense you're an ambitious person, is there a goal you're working towards right now?"

(Here, you demonstrated ambition and passion, then you turned the spotlight back onto her.)

Which sounds better?

"I'm not working anywhere right now..."

Or...

"I'm checking out a number of different business opportunities right now, I like to stay busy. What about you, how do you spend your days when you're not working?"

Or, you might have achieved some success in your career. In this case, don't boast about it or go into detail.

Just ALLUDE to the fact that you're a sharp, successful guy with even bigger things on the horizon.

"Let's just say I'm good at what I do and I'm very well compensated. The hours are long, but I love it... and I'm learning so much right now that I'm looking into launching my own business. Have you ever thought about starting your own business?"

Any negative can be spun into a positive, and any positive can be phrased so that it BUILDS YOU UP in her eyes.

I'll come out and say it: I've always had a "thing" for Asian women.

I've traveled the world and dated women of many different ethnicities. Busty California blondes. Lusty Latin women. Sexy black girls. Tall, model-type Eastern European women. Girls from big cities, and small towns.

You name the type, I've dated 'em.

But to me, nothing compares to Asian women. A lot of guys feel the same way I do: we think Asian women are the most beautiful, exotic, and erotic women on earth.

There's something about their silky black hair, delicate features, alluring eyes, and slim figures that drives us wild.

Now, I'm not going to generalize and tell you that all Asian women are the same. In fact, there are HUGE differences between the women of different Asian countries and cultures.

Each requires a different strategy, if you're going to meet them and build a romantic relationship.

White girls will mock you for admitting your preference for Asian women. They'll call it "yellow fever," Which is a ridiculous and inaccurate term, since I have yet to meet an Asian woman with a "yellow" complexion -- their smooth, porcelain skin ranges from pale (most Chinese, Korean and Japanese women) to the darker, more exotic complexion of the beautiful women of the Philippine islands, Thailand, and Indonesia.

White women will say that your desire for Asian women is about wanting a "submissive" wife who will cook and clean, and not talk back -- a woman who doesn't have a mind of her own.
This is another absurd stereotype.

I've dated Asian women who are FAR more intelligent, sensitive, passionate and independent than white girls who are only looking to land a wealthy husband and drive him crazy with their never-ending demands -- and then take him to the cleaners in divorce court.

Asian women BELIEVE in romance and finding a lifetime partner -- unlike Western women, who often get married and think, "Well, I'll give this a try and see how it works out -- and if it doesn't, at least I'll get the house and a fat alimony check every month."

Asian women WANT to take care of their man, and in return, they expect to be loved and respected. Asian women also place a huge importance on family, and DO NOT have the same prejudices about age that Western women do.

They don't CARE so much about age differences. It is perfectly normal for an Asian woman in her 20s or 30s to fall in love with a significantly older man -- and if she's a "good girl" (my book explains how to find this out), her love for this man will be 100% genuine.

This is completely the opposite from the Western world, where men get "put out to pasture" once they reach a certain age. In America, a divorced guy who is 40 or 50 years old is made to feel ANCIENT! He thinks his dating options are limited to women his own age, who are usually divorced, bitter single mothers.

In Asia, it's perfectly normal for a guy in his 40s or 50s to be in love with a gorgeous, hard-bodied young woman in her 20s! No one points fingers. It's part of the culture. (I've known men who got divorced in America and figured their sex life was OVER...and they experienced a REBIRTH once they got to Asia!)

Great Conversation Starters

So you spot an absolutely beautiful woman. Maybe you’re in a bar or nightclub — or perhaps you’re just out for a stroll. You’d love to introduce yourself and get her name. Hopefully her phone number. You’re thinking to yourself, you’d be the happiest guy on earth if you had a babe like HER for a girlfriend…

Well, this is when the average guy shuts down and freezes up. He tells himself he shouldn’t approach her, for any number of reasons: “She’d probably blow me off.” “She looks like she doesn’t want to be bothered” Or, “A girl that hot MUST have a boyfriend.”
But most of all, he’s thinking, “what would I say to her??”

The guy has no idea how to start the conversation, and so rather than introducing himself, he allows the opportunity to pass him by. Chances are, he will never see that woman again.
In the Mack Tactics program, you’ll learn a variety of great conversation starters that will allow you to easily “break the ice” with women. Great Conversation Starters, example #1:

Ask her opinion on a romantic situation involving a friend of yours. (Women love to chat about this stuff.) Say something like, “Let me get your opinion on something real quick. My best friend John has been dating a girl, and she was at his place last night. She asked to borrow his cell phone, because her phone’s battery was dead, and she wound up checking through his text messages when he wasn’t looking. She saw a text message on there from John’s ex-girlfriend — just a friendly text, saying ‘hey, what’s up.’ And she got really mad at John because she doesn’t want him staying in touch with his ex. Well, John was upset because she felt she had no right to check his messages. So do you think that’s an invasion of privacy? Honestly, would you ever check the messages on your boyfriend’s phone?”

Great Conversation Starters, example #2:

Pay her a quick compliment on an aspect of her appearance that most guys would NOT notice. Never tell her she’s beautiful, or comment on her body — notice a detail like her purse, her jeans, her necklace, a ring, etc. Tell her you think it’s cool. Ask her where she got it. Tell her that you need to shop for a birthday gift for a female friend of yours, and you think that might be a good gift.

Great Conversation Starters, example #3:

Tell her she has a great energy: “I just had to tell you, you have this great energy about you. You seem like a really fun, outgoing person who doesn’t take herself too seriously, am I right?”
Notice that when using a great conversation starter, you DON’T ask permission to start talking to her. Don’t ask her, “Do you mind if I ask you something?” Or, “Can I talk to you for a minute?” This will cause her to go into “defensive” mode and she’ll be suspicious of your intentions. Instead, use a great conversation starter and launch right into it.

Then, like a master chess player, you’ll be thinking a few moves ahead. OK, let’s be honest. What guy doesn’t want to date sexy, fun, vivacious younger women?

The problem is, most guys reach a certain age and start to think that hot younger women are no longer an option. Many guys in their 30s have already convinced themselves that women who are 5 or 10 years younger are “out of reach.”

When men mature into their 40s and 50s, this mentality becomes more common. Of course they’d still love to date and sleep with hot young women! But they limit their dating options to women closer to their own age—who often have more “baggage” than Paris Hilton coming home after an all-day shopping spree.

(Yeah, I’m sure a lot of feminists will HOWL at what I just said…but it’s the truth. And I know a lot of guys would do the same thing I’m doing, if they knew how to master the Younger Women game…)

Be Cocky and Playful, and She Won't Say "No"

I’ve talked to hundreds of women about the qualities they find most attractive in men, and a sense of humor is usually the first quality they mention.

But are women being phony when they say this? Are they giving this answer because they don’t want to appear shallow—when what they really want is a tall, muscular hunk with a ton of cash?

If the ability to make a woman laugh was such a huge turn-on, then wouldn’t stand-up comedians get laid more than rock stars? We all know guys with a “class clown” personality who are constantly saying hilarious things, and they’re usually the LAST guys to hook up. Women find them amusing, but don’t feel any sexual attraction.

Here’s the truth. When women say they love a sense of humor, what they really mean is they love the deeper attitude that a sense of humor points to. Guys who are funny, playful and nonchalant around women—and even better, can bust on women and tease them a little—are obviously confident and in control of their reality.

These guys don’t look to women for approval. They don’t radiate anxiety. They never seem like they NEED to get a woman’s phone number or hook up with her. This goes back to two principles that I preach in M.A.C.K. Tactics:

1. Women love men who present a challenge.

Having this attitude means you’ve got to stop second-guessing yourself. You’ve got to squash that little voice in your head that tells you why you SHOULDN’T approach a girl, or try to go to the next level with her.

The average guy takes himself WAY too seriously when it comes to women, and is constantly asking himself unnecessary questions:

“Does this shirt look good on me?”
“Is she going to get annoyed if I walk up and talk to her?”
“What if she has a boyfriend?”
“Where should I take her on a date?”
“What if we run out of things to talk about?”
“If I ask for her phone number, will she think I’m some stalker?”
“Is it too soon to try to touch her?”

When you allow your brain to fire off these questions, it destroys your ability to be fun, spontaneous and playful. You’re allowing yourself to be preoccupied by unimportant details, when you SHOULD be asking yourself questions that boost your confidence and remind you to stay sharp and on top of your game:

“This girl is cute, but is she interesting enough for me to date?’
“Is she smart and funny enough to hold a conversation with me?”
“What can I teach this girl, that she’d never learn from the average guy?”
“What should I mention about myself, to really make this girl curious about me?”
“How far am I going to take this tonight, and what’s my plan?”

Now, in terms of the verbal questions that you ask women, you’ve also got to learn how to “spin” them to make them effective. When you’re getting to know a girl, and you make a request that she can simply say “no” to, chances are she will:

Him: Can I buy you a drink?
Her: No.
Him: Can I have your number?
Her: No.
Him: Can I kiss you?
Her: No.
Him: Want to go back to my place?
Her: Hell no.
Him: Can I see you again?
Her: I’m pretty busy…for the next six months.

One technique is to rephrase your questions so that you give women “false choices.” This means you are not giving her the chance to say “no.” You are assuming that she’s going to go with your flow. Lead the interaction, and if she’s at all interested in you, or at least curious, she’ll go along with it and never shut you down with a “no.”

WACK: Can I buy you a drink?

MACK: So tell me something interesting about yourself, that’s going to make me want to have a drink with you.

WACK: Can I get your phone number?

MACK: We should exchange numbers. (as you take out your phone) What’s a good time to call you tomorrow?

WACK: Want to go back to my place?

MACK: Let’s go to my place and I’ll show you that _______ I told you about. (Fill in the blank with something you mentioned earlier, that you want to show her.) I’ve got some good wine…but I’ve got to be up early tomorrow, so just one glass.

WACK: Would you like to dance?

MACK: I’m going to need to take you onto the dance floor. I don’t want you standing here looking like a wallflower.

WACK: Would you like to hang out sometime?

MACK: My friends told me about this new lounge that has great music on Friday and Saturday nights. Which night is better for you?

Remember: boring, ordinary guys are constantly asking permission from women. This results in a lot of “No’s,” and a lot of disappointment, frustration, and masturbation.

Hi Dean. I receive your newsletter and I’ve been amazed by your solutions for people who want to reclaim their love lives. Now I have a question for you.

I was taking a class at night at my local university, and I met a very sexy woman who is older than I am (I am 26, and she is 35). We always talked after class, and we met a few times at the campus library to study together.

I was growing to really like her, but it was hard to understand what she wanted. Sometimes she acted very flirty towards me, and other times she acted cold and distant. She would sometimes call me twice a day to chat, and then she would stop calling me and wouldn’t return my calls for a few days.

I asked her many times to go on a date with me. Once, she agreed to meet me for lunch, but then she called me at the last minute and cancelled.

Our class ended three weeks ago. Now she will not answer my phone calls but we communicate with text messages. She confessed to me that she is still hurting from breaking up with her ex-boyfriend John. She says she loves me as a friend and our friendship is very important to her, but she isn’t ready for another serious relationship. When I try to get her to meet me, she always has an excuse.

I know she cares about me and if she just wants to be friends, that’s okay. But I need to know if I have a chance of making her my girlfriend.

Because let’s be honest. Is any guy ever satisfied having a female “friend” to talk to, when what he really wants from her is sex? No, of course not.

And it’s only a matter of time before she meets some other guy who DOES make her feel sexually attracted, and once they start hooking up she’ll no longer have any need to hang out with you.

And do you really need female friends to talk to and share your problems with? No. You’ve got your buddies to fill that role in your life, and they can relate to you much better than a chick that makes you feel depressed and sexually frustrated.

So let me give you my Top 6 tips for busting out of the Friend Zone and getting women sexually interested in you…

1. Limit your availability. I’m willing to bet that whenever this girl does call you, you eagerly answer the phone and chat with her for as long as she wants. You think that when you spend two hours on the phone with her, sharing your life stories and telling her about the girl who broke your heart when you were in the tenth grade, you’re building a deep “connection” with her.

But what you’re actually doing is removing ANY sense of mystery about yourself, and letting her know that you have nothing else going in your life…and no other women. This is massively UN-attractive to her.

(I know that when you’re a man who is struggling with his dating life, and haven’t hooked up with a chick in a while, this takes a LOT of discipline. Your instinct is to make yourself totally available to her and try to spend as much time as possible with her. Well, go ahead and keep doing it this way, if you want to keep wondering why women lose interest in you…)

2. Until you’ve slept with a woman, limit your phone chats with her to five minutes. And don’t get caught up in constant text-messaging. Give her the sense that you’re a busy man with places to be. Use these short phone calls, or text exchanges, to lock down your plans to see her again. Save the deep conversations for when you are actually spending time with her.

3. Women are moody and emotional. Get used to it, and know how to deal with it. When she start acting weird or distant, she is testing you. She wants to see how you will respond. Do you kiss her ass and ask her “what’s wrong?” Do you get frustrated and angered by her behavior? (Either of these responses will only make her get more moody!)

Or, do you behave like a firm, direct MAN? (Tell her, “Well, I can tell you’ve got some things on your mind right now, so why don’t you take some time to sort it out and get back to me. I’ve got some things I need to handle right now.”)

4. Her ex-boyfriend is irrelevant. Women commonly use the excuse, “I got out of a bad relationship recently, I don’t know if I’m ready for someone new, I don’t want to get hurt again,” etc. It’s all crap, basically. The truth is, if she met a confident, attractive man RIGHT NOW who made her feel a sexual connection, she’d forget about her ex-boyfriend in about 2.3 seconds.

When she talks about her ex, and how she’s “not ready,” what she really means is that you’re not making her feel attraction, and so she’s testing you to see what kind of man you are.

Part of your job, as a Mack, is to put her in a positive, fun state of mind and keep her there. When she thinks of you, she should think of fun times and feeling good about herself. The last thing you want to do is allow her to dwell on her ex-boyfriend and be her “shoulder to cry on.” If she ever mentions him, change the subject.

And never refer to him by name because it only aggravates her emotional state. (Instead, refer to him as “that guy.” Make him seem irrelevant and insignificant.)

HER: “I guess I’m just in a bad mood today because it would have been my third anniversary with my ex, John…”

YOU: “Well it sounds like that guy didn’t appreciate you the way he should have, and it’s his loss. I’m just glad we’re getting to know each other, because I can tell there’s a lot more to you than meets the eye. So tell me more about ________” (change the subject onto something that gets her in a positive, talkative mood).

5. Never confess your attraction to her. Women interpret this as a sign of weakness. You’ve been taught by the media that woman want a soft, sensitive guy who isn’t afraid to confess his feelings. Actually, the opposite is true. She needs to know you are a strong, emotionally secure and confident MAN.

Once you’ve got a sexual relationship going with her, and she’s bonded to you, feel free to be a sweet, loving boyfriend and do all of the romantic things that drive her wild. But until then, you’ve got to play it cool.

6. Finally, be willing to “man up” and walk away. If for whatever reason she just can’t sort out her feelings, cut her loose. Trust me, if you were involved with two or three OTHER women right now, you wouldn’t have the time or the interest to play games with some chick who can’t make up her mind. When you have multiple options, you’ll always feel confident and in control.

Don’t make the mistake that most guys make, and place “all of your eggs in one basket.”

Once a woman has mentally placed you in “The Friend Zone,” it’s difficult to change her feelings towards you. Ideally, you never want to her to view you as her platonic, non-sexual “buddy” in the first place. This is why when you do meet up with women for a date, you’ve got to take things in a sexual direction. This doesn’t mean you have to sleep with women on the first date. But you’ve got to establish some physical contact and make her feel that you’re a sexual possibility for her.

How to get a girl back, when she starts blowing you off...

Hey Dean, I love your book and I've got a question...

I am 34 years old, from Norway, and I messed things up with a girl I really like. I know your advice is probably to move on and meet new people, but I live in a small town, and there aren't many high-class women available.

After a 6-year relationship, involving 2 kids and a bad breakup, I’ve been single for more than 4 years.

I’ve met many girls since then, but none that I really liked, so I haven't gotten serious with any of them.Then I met this girl. 20 years old, from the next city. About a one-hour drive away from me. We hit it off quite well from the start, and on the first night we met we were already kissing, and she spent the night.

She then told me she thought I was a bit old, and things cooled down. But still, we exchanged phone numbers and emails, so we kept in touch, also through Yahoo Messenger.

We spent hours and hours chatting, and then she invited me there for the weekend.So, I went there, and we had a great time, but nothing more happened. I NOW know what I did wrong. I was being too friendly, and not like I would have done things now.

But still, this increased our contact, and we decided to take a trip together with a couple who are mutual friends of ours.

In the time between this decision and the trip (a couple of months) we met once a week, and tension was increasing. Physical contact increased, but no sex. But I was being patient, and the weekend of the trip, patience paid off.

Finally. So I must have done something right!

It kept going well until a couple of weeks ago....when I told her that I thought we should take things to the next level and make commitments to each other.

And that's when it went all wrong. She was unsure, and instead of cooling down, I pushed on. Trying to logically convince her that this was meant to be, and so on. The classic mistakes. And when she wouldn't agree, I reacted with frustration, and pulled out.

After a couple of weeks of silence, I made contact with her, and asked what would happen now. She is unsure whether she wants to walk down this path again.

But the problem (for me) is that I have never met a girl things were going so naturally with, and I don't want to lose contact with her. I know making up for this will not be an easy task,but I am prepared to give it another shot.

I am still convinced I will be able to renew contact with her, and when I do, I will use everything I have learnt from your classes, and not fall back to the wuss and needy idiot I have been.

But I still need some advice. Is there anything I must avoid (apart from what I have said I know I have to avoid), and are there any great tips or hints you can give me? I am prepared to give her my best side all the time, being positive and confident, and giving her the same positive experiences I gave her in the beginning.

I don't want this to end. But on the other hand, I can't force her, because then the game starts all over again. I'm NOT giving this up.

Like I said, I live in a small town, and I just can't pick girls like I want. Cards have to be played differently here.

I really hope you have some wise words for me.

First off, I want to commend your sincerity and honesty. I feel it in your email. Now I’m going to bring some nuclear-powered knowledge to help you get this situation on track…and get this girl back to you, where she belongs.

Before I get into that … no offense bro, but I’m going to need to smack you around a little bit. As I read your email, I spotted several “red flags” — tactical mistakes you made that you must not repeat with this girl again, or make with any girl in the future.

I know you’re aware of some of the mistakes you made, but I know a LOT of guys will benefit from this feeback I'm about to give.

Among the many guys that I’ve coached, this is a situation I see all the time. They learn the correct strategies and adopt the right mental attitude…but only temporarily.

As soon as they meet that “perfect girl” and sleep with her, they return to their old ways because they don’t want to LOSE her.

The irony is, by being “super nice,” always being available to talk to her, and making it clear that you want her to be your girlfriend, you are letting her slip away — because her attraction you is decreasing.

Let me run down the red flags in your letter:

#1. After she spent the night with you for the first time, she mentioned to you that you might be “too old” for her. (You are 34, and she is 20.)

Incidentally, I’m 34 years old, and I tend to date women that are 10 years younger than me (or more), so I’ve learned how to handle this exact situation.

I even have a book coming out soon called “Dating Younger Women” that is ALL about this topic…I’m guessing that the age difference was something you were concerned about from the very beginning. You were psyched to meet a cute 20-year-old, but you were probably worried that she would “realize” that you were too old for her.

This is easily avoided. Here are two points to remember when you meet a younger woman:#1. Never try to conceal your age, and never express any concerns about you being older. Bring it out into the open right away, and USE your age as a way to make her want to prove herself to you.

She should be the one who is worried she is not on your level!

Once she tells you her age, you say, “Wow, I’m 34 years old and you’re only 20? I’ve usually dated women that are closer to my own age. I like women that are sophisticated and have some life experience.”

Wow. That’s an extremely confident, direct thing to say to a young woman. It’s not arrogant or offensive. It shows you have HIGH STANDARDS with the women you date.

Can she measure up to your standards? Well, now is her chance to show you.

You didn’t say, “I can’t date you, you’re too young and inexperienced.”

You said, “I date women who are sophisticated and experienced.”

So, if she wants to hang out with you, she’s going to need to demonstrate that she has these qualities.

You’ve put a CHALLENGE out there, and women get turned on by a man who challenges them to step up!

Now, throw her a question and make her PROVE that she can hang with a sophisticated guy like you: “But I have to admit, you do seem kind of mature for your age. So tell me some of the things you’re into.”

This is so powerful on a psychological level. Right from the beginning, you’re establishing that you have no insecurity at all about your age; you love being your age, because it means you’re at a secure, confident, experienced stage in your life.

You know about all kinds of cool and interesting things. The only question is, is SHE worthy of hanging out with a guy like you?

#2. Turn your age into a REASON for her to want to date you. As an older guy, you’re more worldly and experienced. You can teach her things. You can show her cool places, turn her on to great music, movies, art…whatever your interests are.

I’ll say things to her like, “Last night one of my favorite movies was on television. Raging Bull by Martin Scorsese. It’s a classic. You’ve seen it, right?” (This can be any movie released prior to 1985 that you love.)

If she tells you that she has seen the movie, you say: “Cool. I’m impressed. I figured at your age, you don’t know about any movie prior to Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt.”

If she tells you she hasn’t seen it (and she probably hasn’t), bust on her a little. Say playfully, “I can’t believe you haven’t seen Raging Bull! Wow, there are a lot of things I’m going to need to teach you about...this could take awhile.”

Either way, you’re framing yourself as the older, more experienced MAN who can bring value to her life. Very powerful! (Do you think the typical guy her own age has anything of value to say, or teach her?)

The next “red flag” I spotted in your letter is that you said you spent hours chatting with her.This is another very common mistake, but I realize it’s very easy to make.

It would SEEM that talking to her for hours, on the phone or the Internet, would build the connection between you and her. But it doesn’t.

It makes her feel AFFECTION towards her, because you’re being funny, and understanding, and you’re a good listener….but it does not build ATTRACTION.

One of the keys to making a woman feel attraction is limiting your availability.Yes, this is easier said than done.

Before I mastered the dating game, I made this mistake all the time. Because of my work schedule, I didn’t go out during the week. I was usually home at night, messing around on my computer. And if a cute girl wanted to chat online, I would be happy to spend HOURS chatting with her…THINKING that we were creating this amazing “bond” that would lead to sex and a relationship.

Well, sorry to tell you, it just doesn’t work this way. As a mature, successful 34-year-old man, you want her to know that you’re busy. You’ve got other shit to do!

And when you don’t tell her exactly WHAT is keeping you so busy, her female instincts are going to think you might have other women in your life. (Women are hardwired to be jealous and competitive. Use this to your advantage!)

Here’s another assumption I want to smash. You would THINK that letting her know you’re completely single and available to her, whenever she wants to talk…that you have NO other romantic options right now…would increase her interest in you.It doesn’t.You’ve got to frame yourself as the PRIZE. She has to WIN you.

She has to step up because you are a mature, sophisticated guy who doesn’t have time for silly small talk and games.

Are you seeing other women? If she ever asks you this question, say “I’ve been dating a few people on a casual basis. Nothing serious.”

Trust me, this will only stimulate her curiosity and her attraction.

Women are competitive, and when they want to possess something…but it’s out of their reach…they want it MORE.

What’s more desirable to a woman: the pair of shoes that costs $700, or the pair in the bargain bin that costs $10? The shoes might look the same. But she desperately wants that $700 pair because it’s not within her reach. In her mind, it’s of huge value.

So when she calls you, or sends you an instant message when you’re online, you talk to her for a few minutes…ask her how she’s doing…get caught up on things with her…and then you politely excuse yourself and make a PLAN to see her again (in real life, not chatting online or talking on the phone).

“I’m glad to know you’re doing ok…I need to go handle some things right now, so have a great night...”

Then you mention something that YOU are planning to do, and you invite her to join you:

“By the way, I’m going to check out this new bar on Friday night, my friend Jennifer told me they’ve got great music and drinks. Come with me, I think you’ll love this place.”

(Instead of a bar, this could be a café, a restaurant, an art gallery, a party…any cool place you want to take her to.)

Also note the fact that “your friend Jennifer” recommended it as a good place. In a subtle way, you’re letting her know that you’ve got other females in your life. Again, very powerful on a subconscious level...

If you live an hour away from her, and aren’t able to see her every weekend, then set up a plan to have her visit, or for you to visit her. The point is, MAKE A PLAN.

After five minutes of chatting, any more time you spend talking to her is making you look way too available.

Any interesting or meaningful topics of conversation should be addressed when you see her. Plus, this gives you more things to talk about when you spend time together.

The other “red flag” is that you pushed her to make a commitment. In retrospect, you realized that this was a mistake…and it was.

Trust me, if a woman is powerfully attracted to you, SHE is the one who will want to have the “commitment” discussion with you at some point. Especially if she senses that you are a busy, fun, exciting guy with lots of different options.

If you push her to make a commitment, there’s a good chance that her attraction to you will cool off.

Why are you asking her this? Why are you so eager to be in a relationship? Are you desperate? Do you have some flaw that other women have realized?

Never have the “commitment” discussion with a woman. As long as you’ve framed yourself to her the right way, it’s completely unnecessary. When you’re not with her, she’ll be thinking about you, and other men she meets won’t seem like an option.

Make her wonder what SHE can do better, in order to have a committed relationship with YOU.

Now, as far as getting her back in your life, you’re going to have to behave like an Alpha Male and let the chips fall where they may.

I don’t mean you need to be aggressive, or cocky. You’ve got to be decisive. You’ve got to demonstrate that you’re a leader, and lay out a path for her to follow.

Get her on the phone. Internet chatting isn’t going to help in this situation; it’s too impersonal. She’s got to hear the confident tone of your voice.

Tell her there is a reason why you’ve got to come to the area where she lives, or close to it. It could be for business. It could be to see a friend who is having a birthday party. It could be to get to get a new stereo put in your car. Whatever. Come up with something that sounds legitimate.

Now tell her, in a confident and direct manner, “Since I’ll be pretty close to where you live, I’d like to take you to lunch—so what’s better for you, Saturday or Sunday? I want to catch up with you, and tell you about some pretty cool things that have been happening in my life lately.”

Don’t chit-chat for 20 minutes.

Don’t mention ANYTHING about “messing things up with her,” or “wanting another chance.”

Just tell her you’re going to be in her area to handle something, and you want to take her to lunch and tell her about some cool things that have been happening in YOUR life.

This will make her curious, and if you keep this conversation short and direct, she’s going to love your confidence. You’re also being a leader and laying out a GAME PLAN that is easy for her to agree to.

You’re not saying, “Can I see you again? I really miss you.”

You’re telling her, “I’ve got some things to handle, I’ll be in your area, let’s do lunch on Saturday or Sunday—let me know which day works better for you—because I’ve got some cool things I want to tell you about.”

Okay, so what are the “cool things” that have been happening in your life that you’ll want to tell her about? Come up with something to tell her about when you see her. Maybe you’ve got an idea for a new business. Maybe there is some new project you’re working on, or you're thinking of purchasing a new house or car. Maybe your best friend finally found a serious girlfriend.

Whatever! Come up with something. When you meet her, if she asked about the "news" you wanted to tell her (and she might not even ask), just mention it briefly, switch gears, and move the conversation onto other topics. Control the situation.

The point is, you’re going to see her again, and this will be your opportunity to CHANGE her opinion of you and be the confident, smooth, charming MAN you should have been all along.

So when you wind up seeing her again, how should you handle the conversation and make her feel HUGE attraction towards you? There simply is not enough room here to lay out the rest of the tactics.

Using Cold Reads To Seduce Women

In “Mack Tactics,” my best-selling seduction strategy book for men, I stress that originality is the most important quality that you can convey to a woman—from the way you dress, to how you approach the ladies and engage them in conversation.

On the other hand, when you fail to make a unique impression, she’s going to automatically lump you in with the last 37 chumps who tried to buy her a drink—and within three minutes of you paying for her cocktail, she’ll be excusing herself to “go find her friend.”

(Don’t you just hate when women say that? As if her friend is lost somewhere in the nightclub, in desperate need of food and water...)

The key to building a bond with her is to engage her attention and get her to share information about herself. Then you’ll tell her how much you relate and establish rapport with her. One of my favorite conversational tactics for accomplishing this is using Cold Reads.

This technique, which is used to great effect by psychics and palm readers, is a way to make the other person feel like you understand what makes them tick, and what they’re going through, without them telling you.

The trick with Cold Reads is that the “observations” you’re making apply to virtually anyone. Yet there are psychological reasons why they work so effectively. Human beings are self-centered, and we generally accept claims about ourselves that reflect how we wish to be. Also, people are vain. We want to be seen as unique.

Even though Cold Reads are usually vague generalizations—which would apply to your Aunt Bernice, just as they would to the hottie partying with her friends at the nightclub—we want to agree with the person who skillfully “reads” us, and we’ll believe they have unusual powers of perception.

So forget about asking the generic “job interview” questions. (“So what’s your name,” “where are you from,” etc.) If I’m in a club, talking to some babe who’s acting a bit hard to get, I’ll bust out a Cold Read: “Y’know, Lisa, I get the sense that a lot of guys get the wrong idea when they first meet you. They think you’re stand-offish and a bit cold. But you’re actually a lot more sensitive, and funny, than people realize.”

Another example: “I get the sense it takes you a while to trust people, because you’ve been hurt before by someone who was really close to you. But the people that do earn your trust, you would do anything for them.”

Or, "I can tell that you’re someone who usually plays it safe and doesn’t take chances, but sometimes you’ve regretted it because you missed out an opportunity. But then other times, you’re spontaneous and adventurous, and you do take chances...and that’s when you’ve had some of the best times of your life.”

If she agrees with one of these “reads”—and honestly, I’ve never had a woman flat-out disagree—I’ll follow up by telling her that I can totally relate, because I’m the same way. This builds a bond between me and her.

In order to solidify the bond, I’ll tell a quick story—one that illustrates how I’m the same type of person. (If you’ve got five Cold Reads ready to use, you should also have five short stories to illustrate how you embody those same qualities.)

A similar tactic is using “Barnum statements,” named after the circus showman P.T. Barnum. These statements apply to just about anybody, but give the impression that you’re tapping into her inner psyche.

My favorite is, "I can tell something has been weighing on your mind. You're on the verge of making an important decision in your life, aren’t you."

Pretty much all of us, at any given time, are contemplating a big decision (or one that is big to us, at least). Regardless, she’ll be surprised and impressed that you knew that about her. She’ll probably volunteer more information—and now you’re engaged in a deep, authentic conversation instead of trying to fill dead air.

Much of what a cold reader does is simply repeating back what the subject has said, as if he already knew the answer. You probably don't get too many letters from women, but I've got a serious question for ya.

I’m starting to think the odds of hitting a million-dollar slot jackpot are better than my chances of finding a decent boyfriend here in Las Vegas. It’s not that there aren’t any good guys. The problem is that the clubs out here are filled with synthetic women with Barbie doll bodies and huge fake boobs…and the guys go for that look!

How can us normal gals compete with that?

Forgive us, Jessica: we men are slaves to our biological programming. Women are, too.

When it comes to finding a sex partner, or determining whether the person flirting with us is “attractive,” it’s not the media’s standards of beauty that make us choose the way we do—it’s for reasons that are embedded in our brains and wired into our DNA.

A field of study called evolutionary psychology explains that most of our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are driven by biology, or “human nature.”

Over the eons, our bodies and minds have adapted to solve various problems of survival and reproduction. This is especially true when it comes to how we choose our sex partners.When a guy is out at the club getting his drink on, his stated goal is to meet hot chicks. But on a subconscious level, his mission is more specific: he wants to find a healthy, fertile woman to mate with.

And the most sexually attractive women, from an evolutionary standpoint, are “blonde bombshells.” From Marilyn Monroe to Anna Nicole Smith, from Pamela Anderson to Britney Spears (before she went batshit crazy), to Paris Hilton and Hugh Hefner’s gaggle of girlfriends, there’s something about young, blonde women of certain proportions that we instinctively find very attractive.

The reasons are rooted in evolution. Way back in 15th- and 16th- century Italy, women were dying their hair blond to make themselves more attractive to men. In recent times, a study showed that in Iran, the women are actually more concerned with their body image, and want to lose more weight, than their American counterparts.

Since Iranian women are generally not exposed to Western television and movies, how do you explain this desire to fit our definition of beauty? It’s because over the centuries, women have evolved to know instinctively what makes men want to mate with them. Thousands of years ago, the ancestors of theirs who fit that physical mold were the ones who successfully attracted men and reproduced.

So what is it about long, blonde hair that commands men’s attention? Evolutionary psychologists say it’s because lustrous, shiny hair is an indicator of good health, which men read as “fertile.” Because hair grows slowly, a woman whose hair is shoulder-length, or longer, is a sign of at least several years of healthiness. The blond color, meanwhile, signifies they are still young, since young girls with light blond hair usually become women with brown hair. Therefore, men who prefer to mate with blond women are subconsciously attempting to mate with younger (and on average, healthier and more fertile) women.

And by the way, it’s not a coincidence that blond hair evolved in Scandinavia and northern Europe. The women in those days concealed their bodies under heavy clothing, so blond hair gave them a way to advertise their youth to men.

For the same reason, men prefer a low waist-to-hip ratio. Guys have always loved chicks with booty more than the scrawny “waifs” the fashion industry tried to sell us on (a trend that was undoubtedly conceived by gay men). Women with these proportions tend to be healthier and more fertile, and often conceive children at earlier ages because they have larger amounts of essential reproductive hormones. (If you’re baffled by the popularity of Kim Kardashian, well, there you go.)

The male obsession with large breasts (hence the Las Vegas strip club industry) might seem to defy evolutionary logic, since a woman’s cup size has nothing to do with her ability to lactate. A Harvard anthropologist came up with the explanation: larger, and hence heavier, breasts sag more conspicuously with age than smaller breasts do.

Therefore, large-but-firm breasts provide a way for men to judge a woman’s age by sight. Back in prehistoric times, this might have been the only clue a guy had as to a female’s reproductive value.

Blue eyes are another universal preference shared by men and women. The evolutionary psychologists have some up with a pretty interesting reason for this one. When a person sees something they like, their pupils naturally dilate. (For example, when women see babies, their pupils spontaneously dilate.) It’s an automatic indicator of interest and attraction. The size of the pupil is easiest to determine in blue eyes; therefore, it’s easiest to determine whether a blue-eyed person is interested in you or not. This makes them attractive to us.

In the modern age—and especially in cosmetic surgery-crazed Las Vegas—any woman can transform herself into a blonde, blue-eyed bombshell through breast augmentation, liposuction, wigs, hair dye and colored contact lenses. Face-lifts and Botox shots can also help restore a more youthful appearance.

The bottom line is that men fall for it. We really can’t help it. It might be obvious to us when a woman is packing two big bags of silicone in her chest, but our primitive brains don’t know the difference, since breast surgery did not exist in the ancestral environment. We’re hardwired to find these features attractive.

So the next time your wife or girlfriend catches you checking out the double d’s on your cocktail waitress, simply tell her, “Honey, I was only subconsciously evaluating her reproductive ability. It’s an evolutionary thing.”

On second thought, skip that explanation. Better to just sneak a peek when she isn’t looking.

The majesty of Cirque du Soleil; the sublime dancing fountains of Lake Bellagio; and the dorky-looking men strolling through casinos with young, ridiculously hot babes hanging on their arms.

“How does a shmuck like that score a chick like her?” other guys wonder. The answer is obvious: cold, hard cash.

Everything has a price in Vegas, and the company of major hotties is no exception.I’m not talking about the “exotic entertainers” or “masseuses” advertised on the billboards and on those little X-rated cards handed out on the Strip.

(By the way, the girl you order to your hotel room NEVER looks like the one on the card…or so I’ve been told.)

I’m referring to a higher caliber of escort: the CH, or “Closet Ho.” (This is the term they use to refer to each other.) These vixens ply their trade in the grey area between prostitution and “professional party companion.”

The nightclubs and strip clubs are crawling with CH’s. You’ll frequently see them popping up (and practically popping out of their bras) on the websites that show pictures of Vegas nightclub events, since they’re constantly out partying.

Most of them started out working in the strip clubs, where their customer base grew to include celebrities and filthy rich dudes who would invite them to come “hang out” after their shift—usually at a private party in their suite, or at their VIP nightclub table. (The implication: sex at the end of the night is expected, for which the girl will be tipped lavishly.)

The more popular and enterprising girls will eventually leave the club and go freelance. Giving lapdances for $20 a song is chump change, when every weekend they’ve got wealthy “friends” (read: clients) coming to town and in need of company.

A high roller will often request a group of girls to entertain him and his friends for the weekend; as well-connected CH will then call her network of friends, to see who’s available.

“Money is never discussed,” I was informed by one Closet Ho, who recently arranged a debaucherous weekend for an A-list Hollywood director. “They know that my girls and I expect to be taken care of.”An evening of partying will often begin with a gambling session. The customer gives the CH chips to play with, and she keeps any winnings.

(A stunner named Lacy, one of the queens of this scene, once bragged to me how her customer sported her a few thousand dollars in chips—which she ran up to $40,000 in a half-hour.)

Then it’s on to the nightclubs, where the girls drink with their guys in the VIP booths and massage their egos. Before her Mr. Big departs Las Vegas, the CH can expect a generous tip; I’ve heard amounts ranging from a couple thousand dollars, to well into the five figures.

The real prize, though, is when a big spender develops deeper feelings for one of his girlfriends-for-hire. He may gift her with a luxury home, a $100,000 car, all-expenses-paid vacations—and if the sex is mind-blowing enough, it’s entirely possible that he’ll leave his wife and kids to be with his CH full-time. (For his troubles, he’ll get his heart broken and his bank account bled dry.

Guys, never attempt to domesticate a CH; they are best left in their natural habitat.)Don’t think these customers are all decrepit old tycoons or rich geeks who couldn’t get laid otherwise. I know Closet Hos who’ve serviced (and dated) major athletes, action movie stars, and blockbuster Hollywood producers.

Which begs the question: why would a wealthy, famous, good-looking guy need to pay for sex?When Charlie Sheen was outed as one of Heidi Fleiss’s top clients back in the 1990s, he answered this question best. His explanation was along the lines of, “You don’t pay these girls to sleep with you. You pay them to leave.”

In other words, when you’re a celebrity with a reputation to protect, and a wife and kids at home, the Closet Ho provides a discreet, no-strings-attached way to fulfill your most decadent fantasies in Vegas. They make sure what happens here, stays here—and for some guys, that’s worth any price.

They're ambitious, self-confident, competitive and opinionated.

Often brilliant, they can be difficult to work with and unpleasant to be around.
They're the alpha males.

And they represent three out of four senior executives and half of all middle managers in corporate America.

Kate Ludeman Ph.D., and Eddie Erlandson M.D., are experts on the alpha male phenomenon, having researched and written the book "Alpha Male Syndrome" and built an entire consulting practice around coaching -- and dealing with -- alpha males.

According to Ludeman and Erlandson, alpha males tend to fall into one of four types:

Commanders. Intense, charismatic leaders who set the tone, mobilize the troops and infuse an organization with energy without necessarily getting into details. (They cite George Bush, Carly Fiorina and Donald Trump as examples.)

Visionaries. Curious, expansive, intuitive, proactive and future-oriented, they see possibilities and opportunities that others either miss or dismiss as impractical. And they inspire others with their vision. (They cite Tony Blair and Bill Gates and Michael Dell as examples.)

Strategists. Methodical, systematic, often brilliant thinkers who are oriented toward data and facts, strategists have superior analytic judgment and a sharp eye for patterns and problems. (They list Henry Kissinger and Boston Red Sox President Larry Lucchino as typical strategists.)

Executors. Tireless, goal-oriented doers who push plans forward with an eye for detail, relentless discipline and keen oversight, surmounting all obstacles and holding everyone accountable for their commitments. (Examples include Dell's CEO Kevin B. Rollins and Gordon Brown -- présuméd successor to Tony Blair as UK Prime Minister.)

Along with its amazing strengths, each type also carries some potentially disastrous liabilities.

For instance, commanders tend to isolate themselves from useful critical feedback; Visionaries are prone to extreme ADD (attention deficit disorder) and to bending the facts to get their ideas accepted; Strategists handle data better than people and executors tend to engender mutinies due to their tendency to micromanage, find fault and be slow to praise, yet quick to blame.

While it is currently the alphas who dominate, Ludeman and Erlandon say the climate is changing.

They believe that many of those who came to power in the early 90s, would not make it today. Why? Because of the critical mass of women in middle management and a corresponding emphasis on collaboration, rather than confrontation and Emotional Intelligence as much or more than I.Q.

"Today's employees who are well educated -- increasingly female and concerned with job satisfaction and work-life balance would sooner quit than put up with an abusive manager," Ludeman says.

"Sometimes, talented people want to work for someone precisely because he or she isn't an aggressive alpha. That's an important factor if you believe, as many people do, that the main function of corporate leaders is to attract, retain and develop talent in their companies."

While Ludeman and Erlandson believe that non-alphas have much to offer an organization, they concede that those who aspire to upper management won't get there without adopting at least a few alpha traits.

They say that perhaps the best combination of all in a leader is the alpha assertiveness and willpower combined with a softer, more consensus-building management style. They also add, "Those who have little need to dominate a room can be very useful in opening up the culture and giving stability to an organization."
